Not at all. [ Pleasant smile. It's been a while since their first encounter, but it's odd how quickly one will just slip into a familiar ease so quickly. ] How have you been?

Well enough, can't complain. The City is what it is.

[ He offers Gold his arm with a wink--he won't be offended if Gold prefers not to take it. ]

Shall we? How have you been? I assume the whole situation with finding yourself a Submissive has been resolved?

[ It's clear, if nothing else, that he isn't used to the gesture being directed toward him. He's still weird about that, but he does accept the offer, if a bit awkwardly.

Is he doing it right? ]

...Yes. We're looking at a renewal very soon.

[ Johnny pats Gold's hand, and starts walking towards the lounge he'd found them. ]

Oh, that's wonderful! Congratulations! May I ask who your Sub is? I wonder if I'm familiar with them.

[ He considers this briefly, recalling that they have no real terms about hiding one another's identities or anything of the like. ]

[ On one hand, he knows Albus has been here longer than he has been, and he assumes he has met people. ]

Oh, that's wonderful for both of you! Albus is one of my most beloved friends here.

[ Relief, then. He thinks? Maybe? ]

...He's been a wonder to get to know. And despite the short time...yes, very much a friend. [ He would not have made it through the physicals without him, the things themselves and the fact that his outburst had both been far too public in nature. And he has not been out much since. ]

[ Albus is also one of the people Johnny most regularly has sex with. ...This may be better brought up another time. ]

I'm happy for you. Genuinely so.

[ Gold has pointedly been perhaps a bit too much of a gentleman with Albus -- he feels more like it is his duty to be, given his role. Also genuinely liking someone makes him a bit of a clueless idiot, so shoes do not easily come off of either foot. ]

Thank you. I suppose if I were unarranged we would not have the opportunity to do this, yes?

[ Turning his attention to the locale, perhaps because the longer they are up and about the more visible he is. ]

Should I have called ahead for a table?

I did, in your name. I hope you don't mind.

[ Johnny's good at playing Submissive, though he carries himself still a little too much like someone who is used to holding the power of a room. It only takes a few words of conversation with the hostess--who initially didn't want to speak with him before he gestured at Gold--for them to be shown to their table. ]

[ Gold, at the very least, plays it off well, keeping his bearing and knowing to use his position for what it was. But not without a passing glance of impressed admiration. ]

[ So he can throw some of that weight around with someone else doing the talking? He could get used to that. ]

[ If he can get the locals to be willing to listen to the Submissive, at least. That's one of the biggest problems Johnny has--getting the initial acknowledgement, whether or not he is speaking for a Dom. ]

They wouldn't let me order for us, though, so I'll have to depend on you for that.

Well, that isn't very polite of them at all.

...Though I suppose that leaves me opening to ask you what you typically order.

Wine, most often; I have a preference for dry reds. Port, sometimes, though they're often too sweet for my tastes--which usually amuses people when they hear. I have a terrible sweet tooth, you see.

[ He stops a little short, there. ]

It's not a euphemism for anything else, Mr. Gold. I don't drink blood in polite company unless I am invited to.

[ The tiny flashes of his canines are visible when he talks, as is the split at the end of his tongue--Johnny makes no attempt to hide them. ]

[ He drops his gaze to the menu. ]

I beg your pardon. The rules are not quite the same as I know them, I suppose.

[ He nudges Gold lightly with a knee, dipping his head slightly. ]

I'm not offended. And I hope you won't feel as though you have to be careful when speaking with me. I don't mind talking about it at all.

In some stories, I believe my kind can't partake in anything but blood? I do not get the same sort of nourishment humans would from food and drink, but I taste it and I enjoy it.

I suppose that's good to know. I don't exactly know any recipes for anything but human food.

No. [ Does he look uncomfortable? This need not be answered. ] Just doing what it is I seem to do best, which is acclimate slowly.
