[ He nudges Gold lightly with a knee, dipping his head slightly. ]

I'm not offended. And I hope you won't feel as though you have to be careful when speaking with me. I don't mind talking about it at all.

In some stories, I believe my kind can't partake in anything but blood? I do not get the same sort of nourishment humans would from food and drink, but I taste it and I enjoy it.

I suppose that's good to know. I don't exactly know any recipes for anything but human food.

No. [ Does he look uncomfortable? This need not be answered. ] Just doing what it is I seem to do best, which is acclimate slowly.

Take all the time you need. If I have nothing else, I have plenty of that.

They have mocktails here--I made a point of making sure of it when I chose this place.

All right. There aren't many options, but this place also provides light meals. And the band is well received.

[ He glances over the potential offerings himself. ]

Fries to share? It's easy to snack on and to talk around, without making a mess.

[ Something about that pings almost nostalgic. Surprising at first, but welcome. ]

[ Fries and wine, a winner's combination. ]

I'm going to bankrupt you at this rate, Mr. Gold.

Doubtful, but I have contingencies for all potential outcomes.

[ He's teasing! ]

[ If he somehow ran out of money OR magic, there was always getting their ticket docked with a slip and fall incident. But he is smart enough to know not everyone would find a quip about that funny. ]

Price is no object when it comes to potatoes.

[ ...That is not going to make sense. Probably better it doesn't. ]

That sounds like a veiled threat, Mr. Gold.

[ He doesn't sound bothered by it. In fact, he sound rather delighted! ]

I promise it's less flirtatious than it sounds; I just didn't have a line otherwise.

Well, feel free to flirt as much or as little as you want. I'm certainly always open to it.

And I am woefully out of practice, I think. [ Not that it was ever something he did a great deal before. ]

You will, I think, find me a willing companion for practice, if you wish it. I promise I won't read into it any more than you wish me to.
