You don't strike me as the sort that places themselves in situations they cannot get out of, so I imagine it comes to you rather naturally.

I think I'd be more amused than anything else, Mr. Gold.

[ Gold just might be very aware that while he is content to be grumpy and unapproachable as a matter of course, this place does not miss opportunities to show him the ways this is going to work against him here. The smallest effort he can make is to not complain so much. ]

[ Of course, in his head, it translates less as 'don't complain so much' and more as 'maybe be you a little less.' ]

My partner is fond of nitpicking the little details of things, especially when I've dragged him out to a club or bar. He's more fond of peace and quiet than I am, and tends not to make a secret of it.

A bit of complaining never hurt anyone.
